These third grade reading proficiency percentages are from the Missouri Assessment Program (MAP) English Language Arts test scores for third grade students. The percentages show students who score as proficient or advanced.
Percentage of Black students in St. Louis and state-wide who are reading proficiently are lower than total third grade populations shown above.
These percentages are from the same MAP test scores; however, show a comparison between poorer and wealthier school districts in the St. Louis area compared with the state average. Black students in both wealthier and poorer school districts scored significantly lower than their White peers.

*St. Louis Promise Zone School Districts include City of St. Louis, Ferguson Florissant, Hazelwood, Jennings, Normandy, Riverview Gardens and University City.

** St. Louis County School Districts include data from Bayless, Clayton, Francis Howell, Kirkwood, Ladue, Mehlville, Parkway, Rockwood, and Webster Groves.
